Slow Down On Those Back MRIs

One of the most frustrating conversations we have with people is about low back MRIs. For 95% of people with back pain, you're going to save a lot of time, money, and emotional turmoil by skipping the MRI.

Here's the thing with MRIs…. They always show something, even for people with ZERO pain! If your health provider is making decisions for you STRICTLY on the findings in a MRI, you might end up with unnecessary injections and sometimes even surgery. Yikes!

Yes, people with NO back pain can still show "disc bulges" or "disc herniations" in their MRI. Even more common is "degenerative disc disease (DDD)" That's akin to saying, "you have wrinkles on the inside." So don't let your MRI results scare you into believing you are broken.

I've lost count of how many clients we’ve worked with who regained full pain free functioning with "the worst MRI" their doctor has ever seen. Even big disc herniations can go back in WITHOUT injections or surgery with the right approach.

Instead, we recommend you see a PT first. If you need the MRI, your PT will refer you out. We've done it, but not often.

If you have gotten your MRI result and you're unsure what it means or how to approach your next step, schedule a consult and let's see what other options you have besides injections or surgery.
